Grandmas Kitchen Quilt-Week 1

A few of my family members and I have been doing a monthly quilt block class...and while we love it, we all decided once a month was not enough! So found this absolutely beautiful quilt at a convention called " Grandmas Kitchen" and HAD to have it...My family members all loved it so we decided to do block weekly to keep ourselves busy. This is the first weeks results...As u can see its a vintage style apron appliqued with embroidery on the pocket ( yes its functional!! ) and rick rak trim...I love this idea and cant wait to see it done...check back for weekly updates!

Corset

I made this corset for Ren Fair last fall. I fell in love with this fabric as soon as I saw it and new just what to do with it. It is laced up the back and is meant to be worn low, almost under the bust. It is very comfortable and warm as I did the lining out of fleece. Best part about this corset is that its super light-weight. I have been useing 1/2 zip ties as "boning" and it seams to work very well. Anyways i prefer it to metal or sew in boneing. I found the wire trim at a garage sale for $1.00 and it fit this fabric perfectly..it was a last min detail I added literally on the way to fair...love love love it.

Alice in Wonderland costume

This was my halloween costume last year...Its my take on "Alice in Wonderland" I wanted to do something a little more like the disney version although I loved the new virsion with jonny depp. I also added a short hooded cape because you never know what the weather will be like in october in this area...and its cute...wore a peticoat under the dress and the apron is seperate (notice the pocket detail)...Oh and this was made from a old bridesmaid dress I found at goodwill for $4.00...steal!!! I love it and cant wait to wear it again!!
